Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi coming again to face legislation: FM Nirmala Sitharaman | India Information
New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday (March 18) mentioned that fugitive businessmen Vijaya Mallya, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi are “coming again” to India” to face the legislation.
The federal government is pursuing the extradition of Mallya and Modi from the UK whereas Choksi is believed to be in Antigua.
“Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi all of them are coming again to face the legislation of this land. One after different all people is coming again to this nation to face the legislation of this nation,” Sitharaman mentioned whereas responding to a discussion on Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2021 in Rajya Sabha.
Mallya, an accused in a financial institution mortgage default case of over Rs 9,000 crore involving his defunct Kingfisher Airways, is within the UK since March 2016.
Nirav Modi and his maternal uncle Choksi fled the nation allegedly after committing fraud within the public sector lender Punjab Nationwide Financial institution.
Modi is accused of committing a fraud of USD 2 billion (round Rs 14,500 crore) within the PNB.
