GNCTD Invoice handed in Rajya Sabha to offer extra powers to Delhi L-G | India Information
New Delhi: After Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday (March 24, 2021) handed the Authorities of Nationwide Capital Territory of Delhi (Modification) Invoice, 2021. The GNCTD invoice was handed amid the uproar by the opposition leaders.
Through the Rajya Sabha dialogue, the Congress, YSRCP, BJD, SP leaders amongst others, staged a walkout from the Higher Home.
“We wish this Invoice to be despatched to the Choose Committee. That is completely anti-democracy, anti-Structure. We oppose this Invoice and stage walkout,” ANI quoted Vishambhar Prasad Nishad, SP MP, as saying.
BJD MP Prasanna Acharya mentioned, “My celebration has determined to not change into a celebration to the passing of this Invoice. It undermines the authority and energy of an elected authorities of an elected Meeting. With out decreasing the dignity of the Home, we’re peacefully staging a walkout.”
The Invoice proposes that the ‘authorities’ referred to in any regulation handed by the legislative meeting would check with the Lieutenant Governor. As per the Invoice, the Delhi authorities should acquire the opinion of the LG earlier than implementing any coverage resolution.
It was earlier passed by the Lower House on March 22.
In the meantime, the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha have been adjourned until Thursday.
